Oxhar Business School provides a formal, transparent process for learners wishing to appeal an assessment decision. All learners are assessed against relevant learning outcomes and regulatory standards. Assessment decisions are conducted by qualified internal Assessors and reviewed where required by Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs).

Areas for Appeal

Learners may appeal in cases including, but not limited to:

  • Disagreement between the Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer on any assessment outcome.
  • Reasonable adjustment or special consideration requests that were refused or modified by the regulating body.
  • Final assessment decisions for any course delivered by Oxhar Business School.

Grounds for Appeal

This list is not exhaustive:

  • A reasonable adjustment was refused without justification.
  • A request for special consideration was not applied appropriately.
  • The Assessor demonstrated irregular, inappropriate, or unprofessional conduct.

Appeals Procedure

Stage 1: Initial Discussion

  • The learner must raise the issue on the same day they receive an assessment decision.
  • The learner must speak directly with the Assessor to clarify concerns.
  • If unresolved, the learner may request a Learner Appeals Application Form, which will be emailed or posted to them.
  • The completed form must be submitted within 5 days of the assessment date, along with any supporting evidence.
  • Appeals submitted after this deadline will not be heard.

Stage 2: Internal Investigation

  • Upon receiving the appeal, the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) will conduct a detailed investigation.
  • A written outcome will be provided within 20 working days of receiving the appeal.
  • If the learner remains dissatisfied, they may escalate the matter to the Director of Oxhar Business School.

Important Notes

  • Appeals concerning practical assessments require impartial evidence, such as a video recording of the performance.
  • Learners may record their assessments, provided it does not interfere with others or disrupt the evaluation.
  • Learners must notify Oxhar Business School in advance of any medical conditions that may affect their performance.
